ABOUT THE TOURApproaching by bike Florence from Fiesole and its hills dotted with secular villas is a truly unique experience, and a very affordable one, since most of the itinerary develops on flat or downhill roads.
First we’ll visit walking Fiesole, the hill of San Francesco, with a superb view point to Florence, and the XV century Monastery of St. Francis still inhabited by monks.
Than we will move up, deep in the Tuscan countryside (500m-1600ft a.s.l.) from where you will start the bike experience.
The first leg of the bike tour will be characterized by the green color of olive tree groves and cypresses, with several testimonies of the thousand-year-old history of this Tuscan area: neo gothic castles, monasteries and old parishes. After discovering the bind with the surrounding territory, we will finally come into town, using secondary roads away from the bustle of the city. Then by the cycling lane along the river Arno, arrived in the old town of Florence, we will capture the atmosphere of squares, ancient streets and trails displaying along the path, in a continuous alternation of remote tracks and modern looks.
The tour includes a brief stop at a local traditional Tuscan farm to taste and eat Tuscan bread and excellent local extra virgin olive oil (the tasting is included in the price).
In the middle of the itinerary (on request and not included in the price) it's possible to arrange the stop at the Fattoria di Poggiopiano for a professionally guided tour of the vineyards and olive groves, wine and oil tasting of Tuscany, and refreshment with typical and original local products.
Stop-catering including:professionally guided tour of farm, tasting of three wine farm (Chianti D.O.C.G. 2013, Red Wine I.G.T. “Com’era”, White Wine I.G.T. “ERTA AL MANDORLO”) and two kind of extra virgin Olive Oil , bruschetta with extra virgin olive oil, bruschetta with tomato and extra virgin olive oil, bread and salame, mousse beans with extra virgin olive oil, water.
ONE WAY ITINERARYAfter the tour, all participants will return to their respective places by INDEPENDENT MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. Ask for information on bus routes. It’s easy and cheaper!
EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL TASTINGAll the bike tours include, without any additional cost, a brief stop at a traditional Tuscan olive oil and wine farm to taste and eat bread and excellent local extra virgin olive oil, as is tradition ever since I was a child, making the places you are visiting even more extraordinary and your bike tour a true local experience. Purchase (and shipping) of olive oil and Chianti wine is available from the farm.
