ABOUT THE TOUR

A beautiful synthesis of the magnificent Tuscany landscape, the heart of “Chianti Rufina”, a winemaking area well known since the Renaissance.
This bike tour develops on the foothills of Mt. Giovi, the peak which towers over the Mugello area and the valley of Arno, 15-20 km north-east of Florence.

A route winding among chestnut forests, hop hornbeams, Turkey oaks and the wild hills which make up the Local Protected National Reserve, with the suggestive sanctuary Madonna del Sasso as its symbolic centre.
Below 500 m the vegetation gently leaves space to vineyards, olive groves and cypresses. Here the bike trail crosses a rural territory dotted with towers, ancient manor houses, 16th century villas and romanesque parishes.

At the middle of the bike trip we’ll do a brief stop at a local traditional Tuscan farm to taste and eat Tuscan bread and excellent local extra virgin olive oil.

EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL AND WINE TASTING

All the bike tours include, without any additional cost, a brief stop at a traditional Tuscan olive oil and wine farm: Fattoria di Montereggi. You will taste and eat bread and excellent local extra virgin olive oil, as is tradition ever since I was a child, and a glass of red house wine (a "gottin di vino"), making the places you are visiting even more extraordinary and your bike tour a true local experience. Purchase (and shipping) of olive oil and Chianti wine is available from the farm.
